Government Cloud Computing on Ulitzer Frank Gens of IDC recently provided an excellent overview of the the new "Cloud Computing Era". His description of "cloud computing" and "cloud services" really highlights the difference between the commercial cloud computing market and the Federal cloud computing market. (Paraphrased from Frank Gens' article) When people talk about “cloud computing”, they are usually referring to things like software-as-a-service (SaaS) and storage or server capacity as a service. They may also talk about the many “non-IT” business and consumer services like shopping, banking, selling, collaborating, communicating and being entertained. NASA's Nebula Cloud Technology to Play Key Role in Open Source Initiative

The core technology developed for NASA's Nebula cloud computing platform has been selected as a contributor for OpenStack, a newly launched open source cloud computing initiative. It will pull together more than 25 companies to play a key role in driving cloud computing standards for interoperability and portability. Cloud computing is a way to deliver computing resources, such as software, storage and virtual computing power, as services over the Internet. GE CFO Keith Sherin said today that the Company has taken the right steps to ensure that it is safe and secure in this environment and that he sees no need to raise additional capital. Consumer Groups to Obama: Google Lobbyist's Appointment to Technology Post Raises Ethics Rules Questions for White House; Appointment Should Not Go Forward

The American Education Corporation Announces Revenue Gains for the First Quarter of 2009

The American Education Corporation (AEC or the Company) today reported record quarterly revenues for the first quarter of fiscal 2009. Revenues for the quarterly period grew by approximately 6 percent over the prior 2008 period. The first quarter is historically a seasonally slow period for both the Company and its industry segment. For the quarter ended March 31, 2009, AEC’s net after-tax loss increased from $71,784 in 2008 to $197,014 for the 2009 quarterly period. EBITDA for the quarter decreased from $268,751 to $129,301. The first quarter decline in earnings and EBITDA is largely attributable to an increase in sales commissions, and earnings were further impacted by increased depreciation and amortization of product development costs.
