Computerworld Announces Its Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2009

Top IT Executives to Be Honored During Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, March 1-3, 2009 in Orlando, Fla.

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/08/08 -- Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management," announced today its annual class of Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2009, honoring the 100 IT executives who have led their organizations by mentoring and motivating employees, envisioning innovative solutions to business challenges, and effectively managing and executing IT strategies. The 2009 Honorees will be recognized, with many presenting their success strategies, at Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, to be held March 1-3, 2009 at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fla.

The complete class of Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2009 appears online at http://www.computerworld.com/09/p100 and in the Dec. 8, 2008 issue of Computerworld. In addition to the class roster, a special report appears highlighting the challenges IT leaders expect to face in the coming year, including developing their skills, mapping current IT initiatives with the top priorities of their CEOs and driving innovation. Featured on Computerworld.com only is the Class of 2009 Yearbook, a photo gallery of this year's Premier 100 IT Leaders, along with interesting personal tidbits from the Honorees themselves.

"The 2009 Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders, more so than ever before, are making a clean break with traditional IT strategies and roles and creating altogether new ones," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "The shell-shocked economy and changing forces in the technology environment are spurring these smart, agile IT leaders to seize new opportunities. We applaud them for their readiness to try on new roles, take charge of environmental initiatives and bring consumer-styled technologies into their corporations."

Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders represent companies across all industries, as well as government and educational organizations, including Allstate Insurance, OnStar by GM, the Library of Congress, Social Security Administration and Washington State University.

This year's recipients were selected from over 1,000 nominees who were measured against Computerworld's IT Leadership Index, a set of characteristics that describes executives who guide the effective use of IT in their organizations, and evaluated by the editors and by a panel of outside judges. The candidates were asked about a range of topics, including their backgrounds, work experiences, special accomplishments and leadership styles.

Crafted by the publication's editors, Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference is a unique and compelling departure from the standard technology conference. Rather than focusing on vendors and products, the spotlight is on great ideas, strategic use of best practices and real-world leadership from the IT and business executives who are advancing their organizations through technology.
