Shoplogix(TM) Implements Real-Time Performance Management Solutions at Ryerson Inc. as the Foundation for Six Sigma Initiatives

OAKVILLE, Ontario, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Shoplogix, a leading developer of real-time performance management solutions, is pleased to announce that Ryerson Inc., a leading North American distributor and processor of metals, has selected Shoplogix Plantnode(R) as the foundation of a Six Sigma strategy focused on process improvement.

Ryerson purchased the Plantnode solution with the goal of driving significant improvements in productivity. "Shoplogix's Plantnode was the key to the development of a sound data collection plan to gather reliable and statistically valid operational data," stated Craig Tompkins, VP Operations at Ryerson. After having evaluated a number of options, Ryerson found that Shoplogix offered a proven solution to increase operating efficiency without increasing costs; layers of integration; or any form of customization.

In just one day, Plantnode was implemented at the Ryerson Shelbyville, Kentucky plant on the cut-to-length line. Jeremy Brown, Six Sigma Green Belt and Project Manager asserted, "In an eight hour shift we saw a 19% increase in productivity and achieved a return on investment of 140% with a payback of 28 days."

Senior operators and the resident union steward at the Shelbyville plant were key influencers in the evaluation process. According to Mr. Brown, "We chose Shoplogix for a number of reasons.
