Aquilent’s Pietrasanta Named “CIO/CTO of the Year”

Aquilent, a recognized leading provider of Mobile, Web and Cloud solutions shaping the next generation of technology for the federal government, is proud to announce that Chief Technology Officer Mark Pietrasanta has been named “Chief Information/Technology Officer of the Year” by the Tech Council of Maryland (TCM) through this year’s TCM Industry Awards. Aquilent was named a finalist in the Government Contracting Firm of the Year category.

The awardees were announced at the Tech Council of Maryland’s 26th Annual Industry Award celebration held May 15, 2014.

Pietrasanta was recognized specifically for being the driving force behind Aquilent’s move from an on-site data center to a complete Cloud implementation, as well as for the development of Olympus Powered by Aquilent™—a cloud management portal that lets a federal IT team manage the hosted environment through a real-world business view.

“I am thrilled on a personal level, and for Aquilent as a company, to be getting this level of recognition—not for ourselves, but for our customers,” said Pietrasanta. “This award is wonderful validation that we have, in fact, demonstrated leading-edge technological expertise, while improving service and cutting costs. Our customers directly benefit from our work and we are proud to have gotten this recognition on their behalf.”

The Tech Council of Maryland is the largest technology trade association in the state of Maryland. The TCM Industry Awards honors the best in Maryland’s life science and technology community, recognizing executives, businesses and innovative technology developed in Maryland and the surrounding regions.

The TCM Industry Award criteria were specific, and demanding:

  • The award for CIO/CTO of the Year recognizes a technology executive who has made a positive impact on the industry, a major contribution to the IT profession, and has established best practices in implementing technology solutions in a company.
  • The award for Government Contracting Firm of the Year recognizes a company that has achieved measurable growth, developed critical expertise in its service to the government, improved the level of service—or cut costs—for the government, and made contributions to national security.

With this year’s recognition, Aquilent has now twice been named a category winner, and twice a finalist, in the TCM Industry Award.
