Marc Benioff, Chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, to Keynote Utah Technology Council’s 2014 Hall of Fame Gala

Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, will headline the Utah Technology Council’s (UTC) (http://www.utahtech.org) 2014 Hall of Fame Celebration.

The annual black-tie event honors the Utah technology industry. The gala, held at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, is Friday, November 7, 2014, beginning with a 6 p.m. networking reception, followed by dinner, keynote and program at 7 p.m.

The annual Hall of Fame event honors individuals with Utah ties who have made global contributions to the information technology, clean tech and life science industries through new technology, innovation and leadership. Keynote speakers from past years include Shantanu Narayen of Adobe; Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com; John Chambers of Cisco; Eric Schmidt of Google; Jerry Yang of Yahoo!; Steve Ballmer of Microsoft; Mark Hurd of Oracle; Paul Otellini of Intel and Kevin Rollins of Dell.

“The Hall of Fame is not only the highest-regarded event in the state's technology industry, but has also become one of the biggest events in Utah business,” said Richard R. Nelson, president and CEO of UTC. “Mr. Benioff continues a long line of top global CEOs as Hall of Fame keynotes, and visits us at a time in our state when we are using technology to create world-renowned sales education programs like Utah Valley University’s new sales program.”

Prior to launching Salesforce.com, Benioff, a 30-year veteran of the software industry, spent 13 years at Oracle Corporation from 1986-1999. In 1984, he worked as an assembly language programmer in Apple Computer’s Macintosh Division. He founded entertainment software company Liberty Software in 1979 when he was 15 years old. Benioff received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1986.
