Chinasoft International Partners with Alibaba to Expand Into the Electronic Drugs Monitoring Bar Code Business

BEIJING and HONG KONG, Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A large market reaction was caused by the recent news about Alibaba gaining majority holding of CITIC 21CN. This important investment decision made by Alibaba is bound to accelerate the development of CITIC 21CN's electronic drugs monitoring bar code business under construction and promotion. To implement the entire process coverage of the drugs electronic monitoring required by the China Food and Drug Administration, ChinaSoft International Limited ("ChinaSoft" or "the Company") (SEHK:354), as the strategic partner of CITIC 21CN, will also start to expand the application of electronic drug monitoring bar code to pharmaceutical retail sectors in multiple provinces.

Currently, the electronic drugs monitoring bar code system has been successfully implemented to cover the pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesale enterprises, while the expansion of the monitoring system to a total of 420,000 pharmaceutical retail stores and 960,000 hospitals and community health stations in China is a challenge that requires more powerful technical support and much larger teams. With a talent pool of close to 20,000 engineers, ChinaSoft will build the RFID platform to achieve the target of "the manufacturers and distributors at all levels can timely record and upload the source information and the flow of data; the retailers and consumer can verify the authenticity using the information; the Government can accordingly crack down on fake products, trace the quality and recall the products and conduct tax inspections; the pharmaceutical companies can understand the market demand and supply as well as the distribution and sales channels; the social security insurance institutions can examine the authenticity of the medical reimbursement", by leveraging its bar code construction expertise in the national tobacco industry and its technology in cloud computing, big data and mobile Internet.

During the project construction and operation, in addition to the revenue coming from system construction, integration and development, ChinaSoft will generate new revenue by providing value-added services with SaaS model for the end users, as well as providing precise marketing services through analyzing market data obtained for pharmaceutical companies. Therefore, the electronic drug monitoring bar code business implemented by ChinaSoft is a new information technology services, and will be effectively promoted and integrated into the other industries and fields with the progress of the society. ChinaSoft's experience and advantages in the Internet of Things nationwide in both the pharmaceutical and tobacco industries will also be better demonstrated under the new service model.

The Company believes that as the electronic drug monitoring system and management platform gradually extend to all areas of health care and pharmaceutical institutions, the company will achieve more rapid development in the pharmaceutical industry. ChinaSoft will continue to strengthen the R&D in the new business models and related technology, and effectively transform these new service models into a mature, professional data operating system for government, companies and consumers, and promote the transition to a new business model for the entire company. With this project, Chinasoft has reached a new milestone in its cloud strategy by advancing into pharmaceutical cloud field.

ChinaSoft strongly believes that all over the world the IT services business model is changing due to the evolution of information technologies like cloud computing, social networking, mobile communications and big data analytics. As part of its growth strategy set in 2011, ChinaSoft embraced the Professional, Outsourcing and Emerging (POE) structure. The Company will pursue growth in its traditional IT professional consulting & solutions business (P) and outsourcing business (O) while pushing into innovative and emerging technologies (E) such as cloud computing and mobile communications. The Company believes that this transformation is in alignment with the strategies of its customers such as Alibaba, China Mobile, Huawei and Microsoft.
