Box Gathers Cloud Leaders for Business Without Boundaries Event in London

Announces Partnership with EE, London Gatwick Adoption and Place on The G-Cloud Framework

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 11/06/13 -- Box today hosted a partner event, Business Without Boundaries, bringing together leading cloud software innovators, CIOs, business leaders and author Geoffrey Moore to discuss the future of cloud computing and important trends in information technology worldwide. At the event, Box announced a partnership with EE, a leading digital communications company, and a new Box deployment with London Gatwick, which uses Box to enable collaboration across its 2,500 employees. The company also shared that it was awarded under G-Cloud Framework 4 by Government Procurement Service (GPS), which provides Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for organizations across the UK public sector.

"The combination of cloud and mobile computing is having a profound effect on not only on how individuals work and collaborate, it's also remaking how we structure our organizations and manage information," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. "For IT professional and business leaders, this is a once-in-a-generation shift that's requiring new strategies and a new mindset. Business Without Boundaries is about sharing these ideas and helping businesses build a secure cloud environment that fits their needs, melding together a variety of simple, accessible, best-of-breed solutions."

"We're in a profoundly exciting period of technology change, and it's only just getting started," said Geoffrey Moore, author of Crossing the Chasm and one of the leading thinkers on the evolution of information technology. "The cloud is driving a shift away from closed, on-premise solutions to an era of open platforms and employee empowerment. Organizations are moving towards an entirely new model of information technology, one that puts the user at the center of their technology strategy.

"It's time that IT professionals worry less about maintaining systems and focus more on creating productive, secure user experiences regardless of the application, device or location. We're continuing to work with companies like Box to do just that - and bring about more integrated, efficient ways of working across enterprises," said Philip Turner, vice president of EMEA for Okta. "Our joint customers like London Gatwick Airport recognize that it's not just about adopting new best-of-breed technologies, but how you tie them all together that increasingly matters in unlocking significant business benefits."

The Business Without Boundaries event gathered hundreds of IT-decision makers to discuss the shift towards integrated cloud solutions with enterprise-grade cloud companies. At the event, executives from Box, DocuSign, Good, Jive, MobileIron, NetSuite and Okta discussed how the latest cycles of innovation are reshaping the nearly $300 billion annual worldwide market for enterprise software.

EE brings the cloud to small business customers across the UK

EE, the UK's most advanced digital communications company, has teamed up with Box to promote cloud collaboration as a value-added service to EE's small business customers. With the power of secure file sharing and collaboration, customers will have the ability to build more productive and connected teams.

Box has continued to grow its channel and partner network across Europe and the Middle East and now has more than 80 partners, including Deutsche Telecom and leading channel partners such as NSI, Insight, Bechtle and Bytes.

London Gatwick continues to extend its cloud strategy with Box

Gatwick is moving its operations to the cloud to strengthen employee productivity and to ultimately improve the overall passenger experience. The airport, which serves more than 34 million passengers each year, is using more than a dozen cloud-based services, including Okta for single sign-on and Cisco for communications between teams. Gatwick chose Box to round out its cloud technologies for secure file sharing and collaboration across mobile devices.

"Our ultimate focus is for Gatwick to be London's airport of choice," Michael Ibbitson, CIO, London Gatwick, said. "A key focus for me is how to improve integration of the massive amount of data and IT services we have available to us, so we can offer a better service to passengers. By using Box, we will improve the way our teams communicate and share information from anywhere, allowing our staff to be more productive and connected. This connected team will have a significant impact on the passenger experience - which we're always striving to improve."

Since first opening a London office in June 2012, Box has more than doubled customer growth outside of the US and continues to expand throughout Europe. In addition to growing its existing offices in London, Munich and Paris, Box has recently added employees in the UK to address growing demand for partnerships and sales in Eastern Europe, Middle East, the Nordics, Benelux, Spain and Italy.

Worldwide, more than 20M users at 180,000 businesses use Box, including National Rail, Procter & Gamble, Rosetta Stone, Schneider Electric, and Toyota. Box is one of the fastest growing cloud companies in the enterprise software industry. The company drove sales growth of more than 150% in 2012 and is on pace to more than double sales again in its current fiscal year.

Box is awarded a place on the G-Cloud framework

Box has been awarded a place on the G-Cloud Framework 4 by Government Procurement Service (GPS) for the supply of Software as a Service (SaaS). The GPS framework can be used by organizations across the UK public sector, including central government, local government, health, education, devolved administrations, emergency services, defense and not for profit organizations.

Government Procurement Service (GPS) is an executive agency of the Cabinet Office. It plays a vital role helping protect front line services, delivering savings through its aggregated procurement solutions and managed services. In 2012-13 GPS delivered savings of GBP 1.2bn against a managed spend of GBP 11.4bn.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
