Linda Hudson: Retirement From BAE US CEO Chair Not a 'Farewell'

'First Lady of Defense' to Remain on Board Through 2015

Linda Hudson, president and CEO of the U.S. arm of BAE Systems, has told employees in a letter to avoid distractions and remain focused on their missions as she prepares to retire from the company next year.

In that letter, obtained by Defense News, she told employees she will remain on the subsidiary's board of directors through 2015.

"I remain committed to the success of the business and this is not the time to say farewell, she wrote.

She also credited the company's workers with maintaining focus despite budget impasses in Congress that resulted in uncertainties, including the prospect of sequestration cuts.

"As a melting pot of legacy companies brought together by difference circumstances, we have broken down the barriers to collaboration and united around a common inspiration for the work we do," she wrote.

Hudson started in the defense industry 40 years ago after being inspired by the U.S. space program.

"At that time, I never could have imagined the people I would meet, the places I would travel, and the experiences I would share with so many others."

There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
