BLUE BELL, Pa., Feb. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Unisys Federal Systems executives Mark Cohn and Venkatapathi "PV" Puvvada have recently been honored for their contributions to government IT.
Cohn, chief technology officer, Unisys Federal Systems, is a 2013 Federal 100 Award winner. The Federal 100 Awards, sponsored by Federal Computer Week, recognize leaders in the government IT community who have brought "real change in federal technology" to transform the way the government operates.
Cohn was recognized for his contribution to the U.S. federal government's efforts to embrace mission-critical mobility solutions. Cohn's expertise has benefited numerous federal and private-sector organizations working to implement mobility strategies, cloud-based email and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies.
Cohn also contributed to the federal IT community at large in several capacities in 2012. He served on the technology committee of AFCEA International, a technology association of professionals in government and industry; organized an event on mobility innovations for the Northern Virginia Technology Council, a regional trade association; and chaired the WashingtonExec Mobility Council. He also served on the steering committee for the 2012 Quadrennial Government Technology Review by the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council (ACT/IAC), a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to improving government through the application of information technology.
Separately, media company Executive Mosaic named Puvvada, group vice president for civilian agencies for Unisys Federal Systems, as an inductee to the publication's Washington 100, a group of industry leaders "who drive growth at the intersection of the public and private sectors."
The publication cited Puvvada's expertise in providing cloud computing services to federal government agencies, as well as previous distinctions, such as his CTO Innovator of the Year Award in 2010 from Washington Technology magazine; his Federal 100 Awards in 2003, 2005 and 2008; and his recognition as ACT/IAC's Industry Contributor of the Year in 2004.
"I am proud of this industry recognition of these two leaders of Unisys Federal Systems," said Ted Davies, president of Unisys Federal Systems. "It is a privilege to work with Mark and PV in our shared efforts to help our federal government serve our country more efficiently and effectively. Their spirit of collaboration benefits the entire federal IT community."
