PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/31/13 -- TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX), the provider of the industry's premier scalable log and security intelligence platform for the enterprise and cloud, announced today that the communications cryptographic module used in certain TIBCO LogLogic® products achieved Federal Information Processing Standards Publications (FIPS) 140-2 Validation: Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules. FIPS 140-2 validation is a requirement for any cryptographic product which will be used in a U.S. government agency network. The Communications Cryptographic Module is used to provide cryptographic services for the LogLogic® log management appliance line, including series LX, ST, and MX appliances.
"Our FIPS 140-2 certification update shows our continued dedication to meeting Federal agency security concerns," said TIBCO LogLogic Senior Director of Product Marketing, Gary Hemminger. "This is an important component in our overall strategy to provide secure solutions to government buyers."
The FIPS 140-2 standard is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), under the Canadian government. The Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), headed by NIST, provides module and algorithm testing for FIPS 140-2, which applies to Federal agencies using validated cryptographic modules to protect sensitive government data in computer and telecommunication systems. FIPS 140-2 provides third-party assurance of cryptographic modules that have been validated against a set of functional requirements for a product that may be purchased by a government agency.
In order to expedite the FIPS 140-2 validation process, TIBCO LogLogic partnered with Corsec Security, Inc., a consulting firm with over 14 years of validation experience. "This is a tremendous achievement for TIBCO LogLogic," said Matthew Appler, CEO and co-founder, Corsec Security, Inc. "Their FIPS validation is a demonstration of TIBCO's ongoing commitment to their customers and the security of their data."
The FIPS standard, which is utilized by the U.S. and Canadian governments, is also currently being reviewed by ISO to become an international standard. FIPS 140-2 is gaining worldwide recognition as an important benchmark for third party validations of encryption products of all kinds. FIPS 140-2 validation of the TIBCO LogLogic communications cryptographic module will provide users with a high degree of security, assurance, and dependability.
