Dome9 Security Announces Entry Into the Rackspace Cloud Tools Program

Dome9 Now Available for Rackspace Cloud Customers; Program Enhances Delivery of Leading Cloud Security Firewall Management Service

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloud Expo 2011 (Dome9 Booth No. 522) Dome9 Security(TM), the leading provider of cloud security management for public and private clouds, as well as for dedicated and virtual private servers (VPS), today at Cloud Expo 2011 announced it has entered into the Cloud Tools Program with Rackspace® Hosting, (NYSE: RAX), the world's leading specialist in the hosting and cloud computing industry. As a member of the Rackspace Cloud Tools Program, Dome9 is expanding the potential delivery of its automated cloud firewall management service to Rackspace cloud customers to help them protect their Windows and Linux cloud servers from attack and unauthorized access.

"We're pleased to be working with Rackspace to provide automated cloud security management for their growing customer base," said Zohar Alon, Dome9 CEO. "Through this joint effort with Rackspace, we are able to enhance security management for thousands of cloud customers and potentially millions more, as we continue to build on our success with this leading cloud and hosting provider."

Dome9 Security is the only cloud server security service to automate cloud firewall management for public and private clouds, as well as for dedicated and Virtual Private Servers (VPS) across various platforms. Dome9 closes a critical gap in today's cloud security - ports such as SSH, RDP, and MYSQL left open so administrators can connect to and manage their cloud servers. This common practice leaves servers vulnerable to hackers who need only guess the correct username and password or exploit any protocol vulnerability to gain unauthorized control of a server. Dome9 secures all administrative ports - for all servers and clouds - enabling secure access, on-demand.

"Rackspace provides cloud computing services to diverse businesses around the globe and security of their data is a key point of emphasis for many of these customers," said Ven Shanmugam, senior manager, strategy and corporate development at Rackspace. "We look forward to working with Dome9, which is focused on providing enhanced security management solutions to the market."

Dome9 is a first-of-its-kind service that dynamically manages cloud firewalls across infrastructure platforms. Leveraging either its light-weight agent or providers' security APIs, Dome9 dynamically configures firewall access ensuring all administrative ports are closed by default, or opened only when, for whom, and for as long as is required to access the cloud server. Dome9 works for virtual machines in private or public clouds, as well as for dedicated servers, supporting Linux and Windows servers running all virtualization technologies. Its key innovation is the ability to provide secure access leasing - dynamically generated, time-based secure access to cloud servers - which enables customers to close all server administrative ports by default.

Pricing and Availability

Dome9 is available through the Rackspace Cloud Tools Program, with pricing starting at $19.95 per server per month. A 14-day full-featured free trial is available, as is a free personal use plan. For more information, see: http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/tools/applications/dome9/.
